Update from Bunkers Hill

Mike has completed a lot of clearing and detection work at Bunkers Hill over the past few weeks extending our record of the route down there and locating a number of sleepers, dog spikes, splice plates and other bits and pieces along the way. The photos below show some of Mike’s work and finds.

This first image below shows the route at Bunkers Hill with the section circled in red indicating the parallel siding arrangement at the end of the line.

This is the view of the road crossing, i.e. where the tramway crossed the Esk Hampton Road on its approach to Bunkers Hill.

And this image shows one of the intact sleepers found through this section.

Pock marks in the soil, visible in the photo below, indicate the location of spikes. That spike arrangement suggests that there were parallel lines at this point. The pink ribbon attached to the gum tree indicates the end of the line, i.e. this was the Bunkers Hill terminal.
